"Every day on television we are barraged by stories of a 'Muslim extremist, militant, terrorist, or insurgent,'" Hassan said in the 2004 release. "But the stories that are missing are the countless stories of Muslim tolerance, progress, diversity, service and excellence that Bridges TV hopes to tell."

What would non-Christians think about a Christian parent killing their child and making up a kidnapping story…
I agree. Murder such as this is unconscionable. There are so-called Christians that do this as well. This man is a maniac, and maniacs exist no matter which religion they "proclaim" to be their own.

Some cultures will not blend. In this country a jerk that kills his wife gets punished. In some cultures a man who beheads his wife is a local hero and the killing is justified under their laws. You want to tollerate anything and everything, go ahead, but I stand by my beliefs that some cultures will not blend.

It's not like the right in the USA doesn't have a reputation for killing in the name of God and Country???
Actually no. First of all, who do you mean by 'the far right'? Conservatives? 'Dittoheads'? Or Ted Kazynski? (though he wasn't 'far right' so much as he was just plain nuts)
Regardless, you do make the point for me. The Tim McVeighs and Eric Rudolphs of the US are not only few and far between, but their actions are not condoned by society or by our legal system. A rather large difference from parts of this world where becoming a suicide bomber is considered a legitmate career choice, and certainly where killing you sister because she was caught talking to a man not her relative is considered justified.
We - the US - do not condone wife beating, we have not legalized it, and with the exceptions of cults our religious friends don't make it 'right' with the lord. The same cannot be said of Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Iran for a few examples.
Now, to get back to this particular story. It could be that the murderer was a lone nutjob, but it could also be that the murderer is acting out in accordance to his religious/cultural beliefs. Either way, completely illegal of course. Still, it would behoove us a society to ensure that cultural mores that include the abuse and murder of women not be allowed to gain a toehold in US society.

What a strange post.....not even remotely on topic.

Oh! I get it! Because I find the systemic abuse and murder of women to be horrible I must be a Bush lovin' beer drinkin' Nascar wathin' redneck, right?
Wrong...hate bush, hate beer and hate nascar. Didn't agree with the war in Iraq either. That still doesn't negate the fact that there are cultures in this world that would make women expendable, especially when trying to save a mans 'honor'.

I'm using the term "far right" as the "far right" uses the term Muslim.

Such as in the title of this thread....NY Muslim chops off wife's head

Turnabout is fair play right?

Tit for tat is usual reserved for the person who 'titted' you, no?

Murder is murder. The reason and the method really doesn't matter. His religion or place of origin doesn't matter.

Well, here in this country you would think so ,yes. However there is a growing segment of US society that advocate that such action is OK in a country of origin, thus making it OK here because we are "multicultural". See the thread on child sex offenders for an example of this.. There is NO justificaton for actions such as this in the US. "Multiculturism" be Damned! Your right to practice a religion or take "pride" in your cultural roots flat stops when you think it's OK to harm another person in the name of "honor" or some backward religious belief. Welcome to America. This is NOT the Middle East, Asia, Africa et al. When an individual comes here the obligation to observe our laws and our culture is prerequisite. Otherwise stay where you are. There have to be limits to our "tolerance" for "multiculuralism".
