CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Recession or no, billionaire Charles Simonyi couldn't pass up another shot at space, even if it meant shelling out $35 million more.

Besides, it may one of the last times the Russian government allows tourists to hitch a ride to the international space station.

"It's now or never," said Simonyi, who has now spent $60 million for a couple of space vacations. The first was $25 million.

Two comments:

One, it's his money. If $35 million for a space vacation is worthwhile to the man, then more power to him.

Two, once again, leave it to Fox News when it comes to anything outside the realm of legitimate journalism.

Oh come on - its a legitimate, and fun story.

He is lucky enough to do this twice - Most of us would like to do it ONCE!

Who cares how he spends his own money? I don't, it's not affecting me.

I'm sure many people would think that some of the things you buy are a waste.

He earned the money, he can do what he wants with it.

Hard work and talent aren't behind reward systems. The ability to exploit disproportional compensation far exceeds hard work and talent.

See.. this is what I dont' get..

This guy has a chance to do good with all that money.. and yet he just .. well does something like this...

I'm just saying.. I'd rather die knowing that I did something good for my fellow man and other human beings than know I went to space..

Just seems..well absurd and self indulgent is all. But that's just who I am.

Keep in mind TM - this is pocket change for this guy. This is his vacation. Sure it may be self indulgent. But, so what. We all need to be a little self indulgent once in a while.

I'm sure he does "good" also.

But, a guy needs some fun!
