I took a break from this forum a while back, and after a few months, out of boredom, I decided to get involved in a few threads.

What I've discovered is the that the same old meaningless crap is being "discussed" (and I use that term very loosely) in the same old meaningless way. Hardly anybody is actually "discussing" anything. It's attack, attack, attack. The majority of people here don't know how to do anything but attack.

Take, for example, this thread, which discusses a police raid on a small grocer. People were basically fashioning nooses and lighting torches, preparing to hang the cops, all based on one news story that was fairly thin on information. I posted a neutral post reminding people that they don't really have much information on which to base their outrage, and that there may have been reasons for the actions taken by police that hadn't been considered. What do I get? I get attacked as if I'm defending the police, by someone who apparently not only knows every detail about the incident, but is also able to gaze into the future and see that the cops are guilty as charged.

This forum is pathetic, and nothing but a time sink. There's the occasional thread that doesn't devolve into pure garbage, but unfortunately, most of them actually begin with pure garbage.

There's a few people (from both "sides" of the fence) that regularly post in this forum that I respect and that try to have reasonable conversations, but they're drowned out by those who are only here to argue - and I don't mean "argue" as in debate, I mean "argue" as in fighting for no reason other than to fight.

So, once again, I'll bow out of the PoC forum for a while. The signal to noise ratio is simply too low. I'll probably still skim the thread titles for "discussions" on a few of the topics I just can't resist, but getting involved in the vast majority of topics here is nothing short of giving away hours of my life to a bunch of people I really don't care about. That's time that can never be recovered, and frankly, most of you aren't worth that price.

Adieu!
