It's legal in our schoold district but I really don't know when the last time it was done. I can tell you, there are alot of punks that shouldn't even be in our school (gang like mentality), in the middle school and high school level, that I wouldn't mind seeing them get the paddle. Their parents don't do a thing after the school tries several attempts at getting bullying behavior to stop.
I do not agree with it at age 4 or even in elem school.
why not? as long as the parents don't care. I got the belt at a younger age. you tend to learn quickly after one of those beat downs. sitting in the corner doesn't work.

I disagree. 4 is too young for a teacher to decide if they want to paddle my child. You can have a spaztic teacher who thinks normal 4 year old beahvior is worthy of a "beat down"...nope. Elem school kids are still pretty well behaved. At least in our elem school. The principal is great about nipping problems in the bud. It's the middle school and high school level that gets more problems imo.
I definately would not allow my child to be paddled below 10 years old. But then, my kids are well behaved in school and know that if I ever get a call from the principal, they will pay for it at home! Which is probably why my children perform well at school and we've never had disciplinary actions taken!
Maybe, just maybe, if the paddle was applied correctly we wouldn't be worried about things like juvinile hall. Maybe, just maybe, it should be applied to parents that believe juvinile hall should raise their kids for them.

Absolutely!
