It's in the media every day. It's blamed for everything from floods to droughts. And if we are to believe the prophets of doom we are rushing headlong towards a global catastrophe. Global warming is the hottest scientific topic of the age. And yet despite all the hype, it is still highly controversial. BBC's Paul Rose, who has spent much of the past 10 years organizing expeditions to examine global warming, looks at the issues.

Some governments appear not to believe it is a threat at all. Many less developed countries see it as a rich world plot to stop them from developing. Some scientists believe the last 150 years has seen a sudden and dramatic increase in temperature unheard of since the end of the Ice Age. Others say it is simply bad science. If we're living in an age of global warming, how come it was warmer 4000 years ago than it is now?
There is little agreement on what will happen next. Will it get only a few degrees warmer over the next century or is the present situation a precursor to runaway global warming and devastating consequences.

Examining all sides of the argument, MELTDOWN seeks the truth behind what has become one of the most important issues of our time. Produced by Jonathan Renouf for the BBC.

Below is a documentary must watch, which pretty much reiterates much of what I have put into threads here on CD.

This is an excellent examination and critique of the prevalent view that human endeavors are causing a possibly catastrophic global climate change. Enjoy!

LiveLeak.com - Global Warming - Doomsday Called Off (3&4/5)
LiveLeak.com - Global Warming - Doomsday Called Off (4/5)
LiveLeak.com - Global Warming - Doomsday Called Off (5/5)

It's too bad mainstream American media doesn't attempt to offer the quality of documentaries found like this. Objective, free of ideology, and factual.

Here are some some segments that had to be cut from the documentary for time constraints.
  • Freeman Dyson, professor of physics at the Institute for Advanced Study, in Princeton, has become outspoken and critical of the computer models which are driving climate alarmism. Dyson says, "I have studied the climate models and I know what they can do. The models solve the equations of fluid dynamics, and they do a very good job of describing the fluid motions of the atmosphere and the oceans. They do a very poor job of describing the clouds, the dust, the chemistry and the biology of fields and farms and forests. They do not begin to describe the real world that we live in." Dyson tackles these
    bogus climate models along with
stratospheric cooling in two short YouTube videos.
  • Antonio Zichichi, president of the World Federation of Scientists, is now saying that "models used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are incoherent and invalid from a scientific point of view."
  • Richard Lindzen, Sloan Professor of Meteorology at MIT, takes a harder look at negative climate feedbacks. "Future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early 21st century’s developed world went into hysterical panic over a globally averaged temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and, on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to contemplate a roll-back of the industrial age."
  • Australia’s foremost Earth scientist, Ian Plimer, publishes Heaven And Earth: Global-Warming – The Missing Science. The inconvenient professor Plimer states that "The hypothesis that human activity can create global warming is extraordinary because it is contrary to validated knowledge from solar physics, astronomy, history, archaeology and geology."
  • A U.S. Navy physicist warns of possibly "several decades of crushing cold temperatures and global famine." Concern about cooling (http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech-mainmenu-30/environment/942 - broken link) becomes commonplace. Mother Nature might even be credited with saving capitalism if this climate realism can end the suffocating alarmism. Russia airs cooling concerns freely. The Russians say our twelve-thousand-year-long warm period is ending and we are entering another ice age.
  • Scientific graphs (within the PDF report) show global temperature has been falling for seven years. The graphs also show "CO2 concentration had been rising at about half the UN's central estimate, requiring its warming projections to be halved and rendering them harmless; and that 20 years of satellite observations of changes in outgoing long-wave radiation had demonstrated conclusively that the UN had exaggerated the effect of CO2 on temperature by a factor of 7–10. The economic graph showed the cost of adapting to "global warming" (if and when it resumed) as being many times cheaper than the cost of attempting to mitigate it."

Did you really expect the idiots in this forum who are pro AGW to respond? Heck, it is hard enough to get the people who are leading the research (Mann, Hansen, Brifta, etc..) to post thier data and you think the countless idiots who have no clue about the actual science are going to comment outside of a talking point?

I mean no offense, but you can not fix stupid. Better to get on the band wagon and suck all these morons for every dime they have with products that proclaim "green" in their name.

Lol, I could always offer the world 'Verde Gore', the Green whine of Carthage.
It's a hard and occasionally volatile whine. The bouquet can be described as exhuberant and overbearing. The aftertaste is agressive and acidic to the palette.

Perhaps you--and Dyson--should share his theories with the rest of the world's climate scientists. Or do you claim that they all are locked into a worldwide conspiracy to perpetuate fear?

A clue for you. The rest of the worlds climate scientist as you like to claim are nothing more than a very small group of opportunists who have gotten "administrations" and "poltical entities" to take up their banner. They do this because in "real science" they could not hold their own so they rely on idiots in political suits and moronic public sheep to deal out their garbage because those people are easily mislead and too stupid to know up from down. Works perfectly with the plan of "social promotion" in the education system. Make your public so stupid and programmed that they won't look past some "official" telling them what the truth is. How far we have come from the youth who rebel against authority. These days, they are so stupid they suck up to anyone that tells them they are important and official.

Another earth day has come and gone, and this year, as predicted and right on time my 8 year old daughter begins to tell me all about the horrible things we are doing to the earth and how we need to say "OUR PLANET". So begins my yearly task of taking each "fact" that she has heard from the teachers (not so bad this year, we live in a fairly conservative state now) and showing her the truth. At least she is smart enough to understand what I am telling her, which is more than what I can say for most of the college kids I have to deal with daily.

Why would you care what idiots think of your opinion? I certainly don't care what idiots think of mine. Besides, when you say "Did you really expect the idiots in this forum who are pro AGW to respond?", why isn't it enough that the idiots in this forum who are anti AGW will undoubtedly respond in large numbers? Isn't it enough to just award yourselves the Big Giant Brainy Smart Guys Victory Prize? Just assume that all the other people are too intimidated by your bulging skulls and overwhelming logic. Since all the OP has is some moldy-oldies from the dusty vaults of the denier Hall of Fame it would seem like that would be the best way to go. That way, neither side has to waste a lot of time arguing about whether Jesus was a Jew.

Folks, the OP is attempting to offer a balanced opinion, please debate and discuss the merits or falsehoods, and lets not resort to petty name calling..
