A lot of people in this forum claim that Obama is leading the U.S. to Socialism so I wanted to post the link to the story below and get your thoughts.

Socialism? Hardly, Say Socialists - BusinessWeek

If you think he's leading this country to Socialism, why? How can you discredit this article?

You wouldn't want to ask the opinions of socialists; they certainly do not wish to raise any alarms. They like for everyone to remain asleep while Obama continues to trash the Constitution.

How can you discredit that he's nationalizing banks and auto manufacturers? That he's trying to raise the taxes on the wealthiest Americans to subsidize ridiculous public programs? That he's punishing the business owners of the world for being successful? He SAID he was for re-distributing wealth. It's on tape.

How can you refute all that and say it's not a slow movement towards socialism?

My advice is not to get caught up in words and semantics. Whether Obama is a Socialist, Marxist, Commie, Alinskyite or 'regulated free marketer' is not the key.

IMO, the point is that Obama believes in bigger Government, higher taxes and more regulation. For those of us who want smaller Government, lower taxes and less regulation (which I consider more liberty), he is not the right choice for President. Don't let the words sway your opinion. Just ask: do you want more Government or less? The answer to this question should help you decide whether you're pro or anti Obama.
