I think I know why the left wing fringe out there hates Ann Coulter, Limbaugh, Savage, and O'Rilley. Because there is NO ONE in the liberal democrat party that can stand up to them. Maybe it's not the depth of their intellect, but the loudness and stridency of their voices that gives Coulter and O'Reilly, et al, their resonance.

Ummm...there are tons of people, liberal and otherwise, who would stand up to Coulter. The thing is, why bother? Generally, the further right or left someone is in their respective views, the less likely they will be to change. This applies as much for Coulter and Limbaugh as it does Maher and Franken. In any debate, do you honestly think any of those people would say "Alright, I'm wrong, you win on that one." They're so dead-set in their views that a debate would only serve to stroke their egos. As someone mentioned, these pundits aren't necessarily smarter than anyone else, they're just more ballsy, and better at using media to make themselves known.
