Four years later, the democrats had lost all credibility, they had become the party of vacillation, and impotency. The nation couldnt wait to be rid of them. I see a repeat here, and I'm sure the democrats do as well, which concerns me a bit. I dont know if they will allow themselves to repeat the same mistake again. So they will either strive to fix all the problems, and succeed, or they will muck things up so badly, there will be no return. I'm betting on the latter.

Sadly, as I've said here before, both parties are responsible for the place we find ourselves at. A third party alternative, employing common sense, is the fix.
Back then, I think the mainstream media did their jobs a little better, and perhaps had a little more integrity. Today, they are off-the-charts liberal. They seem to be louder and shriller as well. I get the feeling the media will allow Obama to take us over a cliff without criticizing him much. It just seems like so many people don't care that we won't have the wealth or purchasing power we've been used to enjoying.

But we will reach the point of no return. For decades hence we will hear as a campaign scare tactic "They want to take away your healthcare." It will be next to impossible to undo this disaster.

Britain is more capitalist than the US according to the Cato Institute's Economic Freedom Of The World Report! And this reflects Bush policies in the US not Obama policies. The UK is considered the world's 5th most economically free market nation between Switzerland at #4 and Chile at #6. Canada is #7, followed by Australia, and the US. (Hong Kong, Singapore, and New Zealand are the world's most capitalist countries.) OTOH France is way down there at #45 reflecting its more mixed economy.

But even those countries live in perpetual recession even when times are good. Some places are doing capitalism even better than we are. Hong Kong and Dubai come to mind. Those economies have thrived.
Dubai isn't doing too well right now.

If its job is to protect its citizens from harm, why did Bush send American soldiers to die in Iraq?

He did not send them their, your liberal congress voted to send them to Iraq! How soon people forget.

Congress has to vote to send them to war and all your hero's voted YES.

And for your info, this current President voted twice to take away funds from our soldiers thus keeping them from having the things they need to be safe.

Bush did not send anyone anywhere, your congress did.

They have had control of congress for more then 2 years and now have a President who promised to remove troops from Iraq.

They have enough votes right now to completely pull out of Iraq but they wont? Why?

Excuses, excuses by the liberals.

Obama already si destroying the American dream of owning your own business. He wants to tax small business people to death thus putting them out of business.

Maybe he has no clue what capitalism is since he never owned a business and sold scam artist books and books full of lies to make his millions.

You're a hoot!

First of all, personal injury lawsuits are not filed against doctors (unless he hits you while driving his car). That would be malpractice.

Secondly, according to the CBO, "...malpractice costs account for less than 2 percent of [healthcare] spending." Limiting Tort Liability for Medical Malpractice

Somebody sold you a pile of manure (was it O'Reilly?)

You're exactly right.

We would have to either abolish or otherwise repeal nearly every act of congress since Woodrow Wilson in order to get back to the freedoms this country once enjoyed.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
But being a victim of indoctrination and endless propaganda, it is unlikely that you would have been informed.

Pursuant to the Declaration of Independence (1776) also listed as STATUTE #1 in the Statutes at Large of the United States of America:
job #1 is to secure rights, and job #2 is to govern those who CONSENT.

IF the government is not specifically securing a right, it's operating via consent of the governed.
You had better learn HOW you gave consent to be governed before you repeal laws, willy nilly.

To illustrate my point, consider this gem from the founding generation.

From the Virginia Constitution 1776 :
SEC. 6. That elections of members to serve as representatives of the people, in assembly, ought to be free; and that all men, having sufficient evidence of permanent common interest with, and attachment to, the community, have the right of suffrage, and cannot be taxed or deprived of their property for public uses, without their own consent, or that of their representatives so elected, nor bound by any law to which they have not, in like manner, assembled, for the public good.
  • All men ... cannot be taxed without their own consent.
  • All men ... cannot be deprived of their property for public uses without their own consent.
  • All men ... cannot be bound by any law that is not for the public good.
Believe it or not, to this day no State nor Federal law violates this precept.

capitalism destroys itself..... eventually.. it is not sustainable....which is why we continue to ride bubble/bust rollercoasters... when times are good.. we're the hottest thing on the block.. when times are not so good.. we look very foolish... as a country that is...
Markets of the world are changing in accordance with government laws.. such boom and bust will only continue to persuade the world away from using the greenback for valuation of anything...

To prevent another attack like 9-11 which would have cost thousands more lives. Bush prevented that. He took the fight to the enemy. Mission indeed accomplished.
