First, we should be asking why he want's to close a perfectly functioning prison. Who cares about past transgressions. It's a prison, not an ideology. Obama needs to understand that the average American does not condone any form of torture, but the same average American does not see a need to close the prison just because alleged torture happened there. This seems to be nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction of a newly elected president who felt a need to immediately do something to show he's different than Bush. Obama needs to admit the folly of his mistake and keep the prison open. There is no jusitfiable reason to move those prisoners to within the confines of our borders. Period.

Put them in the supermax prison where we keep all the other convicted terrorists that we have in custody. Those who haven't been tried will need to be charged and tried.

There. That was easy.

When Cuba is 'liberated' they could give tourista tours, ala Alcatraz.

Try the detainees accused of crimes in federal court.

Move those determined to be combatants to a legitimate POW camp, as opposed to a prison. These combatants may be detained in POW camps for the duration of conflict. BTW the Geneva Accords require that we treat POWs as we treat American servicemen. They are detained enemy combatants, not criminals.

Release the rest.

As far as the poll goes, the problem with a few of those choices is that the origin countries do not want them. The American public does not want them. The only people interested in these individuals is the ACLU.

I think every liberal on this forum should lobby 0bama and their congressmen, senators and governor to get these innocent detainees released into their home towns. Maybe even give them a room at a local hotel, as suggested by Eric Holder.

Where is your proof, or is that just an unsubstantiated blanket statement the likes of which might come from the mouth of Rush Limbaugh or Hannity.

Yup, they all cheered 0bama, when he signed that executive order closing GITMO, and four months later he still has no freaking clue, even the democratic congress told him NO to his requested funds, because he has no freaking plan at all.

"Hope... Change...We cannot continue the stale old policies of the past!" Who needs substance when you have rhetoric like that?
