It goes back further than that friend.. Every president since FDR has been involved with Saudis and their oil. It all started with keeping it away from the Axis powers, and blossomed into a complex headache that we have had to deal with ever since..

It is middle eastern culture for the men to embrace, kiss cheek to cheek, and is completely not out of the ordinary to hold hands throught the conversation. (I've been brushing up because my job is sending me there.) However, it is also completely normal to bow...if the person you direct your bow to is a superior, not a peer.
Bush kissed the Saudi King as a greeting between equals. Perhaps you are ignorant of the customs of the Middle East.
