Instead of wasting trillions on that stupid war they could have walled up our border a long time ago. Finally someone cares about Americans and not about Mexicans wanting to work here illegally!
Agree about the war, imagine what we could've done with all that money. But it sounds like you took the bait and actually believe him, I sure don't believe what these scoundrels say. He may stand up and say it, but we know it's not going to pass as too many of them are in the pocket of the National Chamber of Commerce (NCC, and their local counterparts) who want to keep labor costs down - so they can keep up their own fat profits, meanwhile, we eat the social costs of the illegals and see wages depressed for our own citizens.
Only way WE are going to solve this problem is that WE have to do it OURSELVES. We must stop our supporting any local biz in our area where we see what appear to be illegals. This includes all the usual suspect "small business" sacred cows, i.e., firms involved in landscaping, roofing, concrete work, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, eateries, meat packing plants, etc. When we stop patronizing these firms who pay substandard wages and no benefits, the illegals will go home (or starve). It takes grass-roots efforts BY US to pass the word that such and such a biz uses illegals; drive them out of business or let them hire U.S. citizens. There's an old saying: "When the people lead, Congress will follow."

DeMint is grandstanding for the unwashed rednecks at home who demand action on illegals. It is much easier to build a fence and point at it when asked than it is to actually engage the problem, learn something, and actually work on it.
How does DeMint propose to pay for this fence, BTW?
I agree. It is stupid. I am not opposed to it but as long as employers entice people to sneak in, they are going to sneak in even if they have to go over, under, around or through a fence. A fence is as useless as a milk bucket under a bull.
If you want this problem cutailed, start tossing some of these employers in jail and putting them out of business and the problem will end quickly. They will find legal people to hire.

You mean the illegals don't hire themselves?
Whoever would hire them, then, who gives a damn about America?

True..but Americans are too greedy to give up cheap labor..People will complain about illegals while 6 of them are landscaping their backyard.
