THREE RIVERS -- Bark at a dog and it might bite you back.

Or get you arrested.

That's what happened to a 26-year-old man who was arrested by Three Rivers police for allegedly barking at a police dog.

agreed. but i wonder if 'stop barking at my dog, you freaking dingbat' might have been a more appropriate response here.

Maybe the guy just wanted to "play".

They should have cut the dog loose to accommodate him.

But the article doesn't tell exactly what he said to the dog in Bark.

Ya, I bet there'd be no penalty if it were a civilian's dog.

I'll bet your correct. In my neck of the woods, the "K-9 officer" is to be afforded all the respect and dignity of any other police officer. Resisting arrest, or assault carries the same penalties as it would with any other police officer, human or not. I guess his barking at the K-9 officer could be considered a verbal assault. This wont go well for him........

The man doesn't have anything to worry about...unless it turns out that there was a municipal ordinance against barking at a dog already on the books. In that case, of course, pleading ignorance of the law will get him nowhere.
