We went to the tea party event today.

We were planning on getting up at 5am to get there before the bulk of the crowds, but a hard drive in one of my servers failed at noon yesterday and the subsequent repair and restoration of backups ran until late at night, putting a damper on those plans.

We left the house at about 10:30. After stopping for gas, ice and lunch, we were on our way. By about noon, we hit bumper to bumper traffic - five miles from the event. At about 12:30, we'd traveled another 3 miles and hit the edge of where people were parking, so we parked, gathered our gear and started the two mile trek to the event site.

Here's a shot at about 1/4 - 1/2 mile from the entrance:

I know the lefties are big on seeing pics of protest signs.

Notice how many people are smiling. That's always a sure sign of a hateful, angry person...

I did see a few - very few - signs that were a bit tasteless, and one birther sign, but zero, repeat - zero - racist signs. Nor did I see a single swastika. Sorry to burst your bubbles, guys.

And, of course, the obligatory Ron Paul supporter - he was a real character:

Anybody else from the forum make it there today?

Great pics..u see all the smiles on these faces in the pics?..Well that proves that these people who went there aren't about the violence..they just want the corruption to stop in our government no matter who is in power.

What a bunch of idiots. "Pogressives". If you are all so powerful and want to start a "revolution", SPELL correctly.

I wish I was there too. It would have been quite a scene trying to reason with fools.

I could be wrong but I believe that was intentional. You probably don't get it though. If you want to try and reason with fools, start at the top with hussein obama.

Beat me to it.

Further proof showing this isn't the bi-partisan movement they'd have you believe. It's a bunch of Republicans and Libertarians protesting Democrats.

Yawn.
