This thread is NOT intended to turn into a Left vs. Right pissing contest. I'm simply interested in what specifically makes you Liberal, Conservative, Libertarian or Independent.

I'm a Liberal because I believe in or support the following:

I'm anti-war (this is the #1 issue for me)
I'm Pro Choice
I'm pro unions
I fully support welfare or other programs that help the poor
I fully support gay marriage
I believe weed and prostitution should be legalized
I believe in Gov't intervention with most domestic issues
I'm now a supporter of universal health care (it took me awhile to get on board though)
I'm anti-corporation and anti-Wall St. (though these might not be Liberal beliefs)

At first I thought the second item on your list said you were pro unicorns. I need to eat...lol

One of the biggest reasons I vote Democratic is the environment. I'm also pro choice, pro LGBT equality, I believe in social programs that *work*

What Makes You Liberal, What Makes You Conservative

What makes me Liberal? ... MONEY ..

What makes me Conservative? ... The fear of losing that MONEY ..

Really though ... in this day and age, it's only really all about the money ... doesn't make a difference which side you're on.

I am neither, I consider myself independent of those. But I will never vote Republican again. The base has gone way too rabid for my tastes. Not that I think all Republicans are that way but it seems lately enough of them are to scare me out of that party completely regardless of anything they support that I might agree with.

Conservative because I am a Capitalist - make $$$ legit, believe in a small unintrusive fed gov't, believe in state rights - don't need either thinking or making my decisions; I believe in a strong national defense - peace through force if necessary as I recognize there are beyond-rational evil crazy minded people in the world and capitulating to them shows weakness - evil needs to be confronted, silent consent emboldens the behavior to continue & grow; I work, have work ethic, have health care, am building my own retirement, shot guns, don't see color/race, be as gay as you want, believe in God, evolutionist, science minded, pay the IRS and do not taketh; non union, non PC, non apologetic, anti-illegal, anti cradle-to-grave entitlement, anti-socialist, anti-obama, nationalist, self-actualizedModerator cut: language You don't have to like me, I don't have to like you and I won't pretend. But I love you nevertheless. God bless.

so you're against all wars even if a country is being oppressed or threatened by a tyrannical government and/or dictator...

So even though a female has made a choice that can result in a baby being born, you're okay with slaughtering the unborn? kind of hypocritical seeing as the baby doesn't have much of a choice...

i guess if you're a union worker i can't blame you... i mean it must be nice to get a fat paycheck and only have to work about 30 days of the year...

who wants to work when you can sit home all day and collect welfare from the government who confiscates the money from the working population? anyone who actually works is a chump...

so the government can be involved in any aspect of your life as long as they're not interfering with the "right" of a woman to murder her unborn baby?

you wanna force everybody to have subpar healthcare just because 10% or so of the people have a problem with the current system?
