Actually, there are SIX Republican Senators who are retiring, versus only TWO Democrats in the Senate. That alone makes it a much more up-in-the-air race for those seats since there won't be incumbents running. Democrats actually have some real odds of taking over more than one or two of those seats, such as Kit Bond's seat in Missouri, where Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (daughter of former U.S. Senator Jean Carnahan and former Governor Mel Carnahan) is running.

In the House, there are 10 retiring Democrats and 12 retiring Republicans. However, there's not a single analyst that puts more than 12-19 Democratic seats as pure tossups (versus 3 Republican seats), and Democrats hold 39 more seats than needed to maintain a majority. The odds that Republicans can take control of the house in 2010 are so slim that they approach Zero.

You must realize that the Republicans see no need for change! "Status Quo" is their motto! I got mine now you get yours!

Never happen, for several reasons, not the least of which is that the President would veto such and action and a Repubs do not have enough votes to over-ride his veto. The Bill has passed and is only being cleaned up for signing, after that the Repubs cannot nor will they be able to do anything about it.
FYI, these rightwing predictions are becoming more ludicrous by the moment. Get a grip people, you lost now, move on, stop the whining and start making some real suggestions and present real ideas, otherwise you are nothing more than part of the problem and will never be looked at as being a solution by the voters.
