There are some conservatives who have denounced the tactics of some of their more extreme brethren, but these are the individuals who seem to be voices in the wilderness as opposed to being taken seriously as rational voices of reason. When this current madness will end is anyone’s guess. To be sure calmer voices will prevail as they always eventually do. Nonetheless, Republicans and other conservatives may want to do some real soul searching about what is happening in their party. As of right now, the right wing lunatics are running the asylum.

The Growing Intolerance Must Be Confronted « The Academy Speaks

This land was built on the idea that people can gather together and demonstate against the government without fear of reprisals.

Sometimes this is going to happen against a government/policies that you support - sometimes it will be you who are demonstrating. To start crying like a little girl that people don't like 'your guy' is .....well, stupid.

As to saying the teabaggers et al just don't want Americans to have health care --- that is disingeniuous don't you think? Kinda makes you a large part of the problem, doesn't it?

It's ironic that he's praised when addressing inner city minority children, but when his audience may include the majority white suburban children all of a sudden he's trying to indoctrinate them into a socialist ideology.

I guess some people blanche at the idea that their children may be instructed to do something by a black man.

Not his place, you know!

Gonna do the "bad thing" and C/P the same thing I put in another thread because this one may be more appropriate:

"I have a question
If the Bush policies was as as bad, at the least, or worse than whatever Obama is doing/proposing then why is the general public so much more active and vocal now than it was for all of those 8 years?
Sure, many objected to Bush but not to the extent and with the distrust being evidenced now (Like worrying that one speech is going to subversively/subliminaly going to transform a 6 year old into a brown shirt
What is causing such an awakening from a populace that is usually more apathetic than interested?

(Bit of wine...if it needs picky editing, do it yourself)"

Somehow I don't think that it is the black lawyers, doctors and teachers that are going stark raving mad over this.

Here's an excerpt from a link from previous post that might explain the fervor...

Though the GOP has been humiliated, rejected, and reduced to rump status by a series of epic national catastrophes mostly of its own making, its leadership can't even imagine governing cooperatively with the newly mobilized and ascendant Democrats. Lacking legitimate routes back to power, their last hope is to invest the hardcore remainder of their base with an undeserved legitimacy, recruit them as shock troops, and overthrow American democracy by force. If they can't win elections or policy fights, they're more than willing to take it to the streets, and seize power by bullying Americans into silence and complicity.

Doubt it.
The difference is GWB was a complete moron, we didn't have to *make up lies* to prove that.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Becuase equating Bush with Hitler, or saying Dick Cheney was going to put code pinkers in Boxcars, or that the 9/11 airlines were flown by Haliburton employees, all of which was just a microrfaction of the stuff you could find on the leftist blogosphere during the Bush era, was a prefect example of rationality and logical thinking.

Gosh, how could I have gotten it so wrong?
