I don't think too many Americans really know or care to know the whole story behind Jim and the political motives behind the whole affair. Most of the country just sees the headlines reported by the media... "he's a crook" and that's about as far as it goes !
Only those who followed his work and him as a person (people from his district mostly like myself) tend to have more insight into the whole charade surrounding his prosecution aside from what the media reported. He was a piece on the political chess board and in the way. They found a way to eliminate him from the game... for a while anyway !
Jim had, and still has as far as I am concerned, a lot of weight to throw around. Just a matter of time before he gets back in "the game" some how... it's his nature.
I really hope he runs for congress again. I would love to see him run for president or something larger like that.
