President Barack Obama, who initially planned to let First Lady Michelle Obama represent the United States in Copenhagen this week at the International Olympic Committee meeting that will choose the site for the 2016 summer games, plans to travel there, too.
The White House, which earlier had announced that an advance team was heading to Copenhagen to prepare for a possible presidential trip to Copenhagen, confirmed this morning that Obama will travel Thursday night. The IOC meets Friday.

He is trying to give a boost to the chances of the U.S getting the Olympics in 2016, I don't exactly see what is wrong with that, especially considering a similar appeal made by Blair in 05 helped London land the games.
Negotiating for the Olympics is no unimportant "pleasure" trip. That would be a trip to somewhere warm and balmy, like Jamaica. The billions brought into the country via tourism would be a boost to the economy as well as a goodwill experience for all involved.
Why does he have to be in the White House ? What if it was being tented for termites ? I guess people expect all generals to STAY in the Pentagon. All cooks to STAY in the kitchen. This is 2009. Instant messaging. and ya know Zionist Joe is at the helm if anything goes kaplooey with Israel, or Iran, and Obama can fly straight to Tel aviv, then Iran. It's all in a day's work. peace. V
He's going to Chicago to lobby for the staging of the Olympics in Chicago in 2016.
God knows the US needs to generate some bit of business given the basketcase economy that the President inherited for that pisshead Bush.
