Does anybody know why Target and Wal Mart no longer have any music playing, particularly now that Christmas is here? Last year Wal Mart actually had some decent tunes, many older songs ( Louie Armstrong, Jimmy Durante) and some more obscure carols, as well as at least one Hannukah song.
It doesn't make me want to spend any money Christmas shopping in a store that doesn't promote the Holiday.

Maybe it is a local thing - our stores are playing Christmas tunes, and have been since before Thanksgiving

Might also be a noise level issue. This time of year those stores are usually quite crowded and, unless the volume on the music is very loud, the crowd could very well be drowning it out.

It is played for the children. They have other children songs as well but the parents like them also.

That is sure enough what those guys are but this one was not something that even the worst progressive couldn't stand to hear.

Wow, that music sounds worse than the New Kids on the Block circa 1989...

I get what they're saying. Christmas is all about the birth of Christ, sure whatever..They probably wouldn't approve of my agnostic family's secular Christmas celebrating Santa Claus and capitalism. Okay, I'm fine with that--and I agree that the PC rule that we have to change all references from Christmas to "Holiday" is pretty silly.

But why does this music have to be so frickin' awful? The beat sounds like it was stolen from a Milli Vanilli song. I'd rather just listen to Elvis Presley sing "Blue Christmas" than this racket.

The racket is mostly a message song so I guess they don't worry about the music that much.

I was like ok so they are trying to get rid of saying Christmas and any religious references to religion at Christmas time so what, but then I saw a short tape tonight on TV showing how they told the Jews they couldn't celebrate Hanukkah anymore. It starts in the public square and progresses from there. If you know history you know what the disastrous end was to that. I don't need to tell you.

Seems to me most Christians are bending over backward to accommodate a lot of people and being PC but really can we afford to do that?

Some people celebrate christmas as the birth of christ. Some people celebrate christmas as a winter holiday. And some SAY they are celebrating it as the birth of christ but really are just celebrating it as a winter holiday.
