Also, reparations can take many forms, but it does involve placing those people (blacks and native Americans) on a more equal footing.
You're right. They have. Many people that are here in this country, THRIVING and SUCCESSFUL, are here because their ancestors were brought here on ships.

Does that excuse slavery? No. Not a bit. It was wrong. But in addition to the bad things that came from it, many good things did too.

Black people and native American people ARE on equal footing in this country. They have every opportunity afforded to them that all white people do. Whether they take advantage of it or have a victim mentality is a different story.

There's a reason that people die every day trying to escape countries like Cuba to get here. Because they realize the opportunity and good in this country.

If you want to dwell on something that happened 200 years ago, that's your prerogative, but there's not ONE person alive in the US today that's been negatively affected by slavery.

I could think of alot more, but these top my list.

1. Return taxes and tax codes to 1950's levels.

2. Get the Church out of the government and the doctor's office.

3. Reduce election campaign/funding cycle. (other countries do in a few weeks what we do it 18+ months - and get the same results.......a bunch of corporate owned party flag waving idiots)

4. Enforce immigration laws. (you are either here legally or illegally, and if it's illegally - leave)

5. One bill - One issue Government. Eliminate all un-related additions to bills

My Top 5 things:
  1. Convert to the Metric System (or at least having both metric units & imperial units on everything - incl. road signs)
  2. All states should have same tax rates + include taxes with the price (that makes it easier to know how much to actually pay!)
  3. All cars should ONLY have rear AMBER turn signal (NO red like many cars have) + having mirror/side turn signals - (like cars in Europe)
  4. All employers must be required to give certain days/weeks of paid Vacation/Days off for every employee, + giving 3 months off PAID to mother's with newborn babies, and 3 months unpaid if they want to take off another 3 months). Also having more public holidays, such as Easter Monday and Boxing Day (day after Christmas).
  5. Improved roads/public transportation - Fix roads better, add more street lights, and add Reflective raised pavement markers on all lanes.
1. Get rid of Rush.
2. Get rid of Glenn.
3. Get rid of Hannity.
4. Get rid of Sarah.
5. Get rid of Fox News.

And I guarantee, this will be a better country for it!

That last line was very brave of you to say. You have no idea what it is to be black do you, and by this comment, never will. Very insensitive thing to say.

To know that your family member was brought here in chains and treated like scum doesn't have any negative affect on you, can only be said by African-Americans, and no one else.

Can you expound on this concept on equal footing?

As far as I know, the unemployment rate for blacks if higher than that of whites.
What about the income level based on race....

What about the poor condition of schools in mostly black neighborhoods...?

I doubt blacks and whites will ever be equal in this country.

SOME blacks have access to the same opportunities as whites but to assert that all blacks have the same opportunities as whites is laughable.

I would convert the midwest to a tropical climate so that I would not have to travel for vacation.

You are assuming that statistical inequalities between groups are unusual in human affairs--something to be explained as out of the ordinary. They are not, even in cases where discrimination not only does not exist, but cannot possibly exist. Thomas Sowell has gone into this point in his books in quite a bit of detail, as have others.

1. Legalize all drugs, prostitution and steroids.
2. Stop the wasteful, pointless wars which are only fueled by corrupt special interests. Focus and spend money on improving the USA domestically instead.
3. End the rampant lobbying and bribery in our government.
4. Limit the power of the federal gov. and go back to individual state rights like our constitution says we should have.
5. End the two party system, which is ripe for corruption.
