what do you mean, "hype"? Wikipedia?

Check the reference sections in the articles... just click the little numbers...if you dont like those sources, go from there to other sources...you can also click the "history" and "discussion" tabs at the top for further information....

Why do you keep insisting that I believe what these people write?

As I said, I read Wikipedia, and I don't believe the information or the content.

Why don't you click though this link http://aalbc.com/reviews/the_race_myth.htm

Where did you say you read Wikipedia? The "information or the content" is referenced; if it's not, or it's not referenced responsibly, find a reference elsewhere (which you could add to the Wiki article, even).

"I hope that this book will be the definitive statement of the difference between the biologically and socially defined concepts of race. If we can understand that all allegiance to racism is ideological, not scientific, then we may be able to silence the bigots once and for all.” - your link

We would all hope for such a breakthrough in perception but I dont see what it has to do with your boyfriend's confusion about the difference between race and ethnicity, which do exist.

Maybe my bf doesn't like categorizing himself as white, because it's a social construct.

I know what you mean, but he's confusing the two. Italian is an ethnicity, a subcategory of Caucasian. C is a race, I is an ethnicity. Hate to pester you with Wikipedia resources but the "List of ethnic groups" surely would make it clearer for him.

Anyway,
