Most laws in modern societies aren't determined by a popular vote.

Why is so hard for some people to understand that the majority doesn't always get to discriminate against the minority? My hunch is that some people see no need for a court system, or even a legislative branch of government; they think everything should be determined by a popular vote.

Some of us are interested in what's going on outside of the U.S. Also, this forum is open to the world. It's not an "Americans only" forum.
