WASHINGTON--U.S. President Barack Obama, fresh from his first presidential trip to Asia, called for the U.S. to increase exports to that region, saying even small gains would help put many unemployed Americans back on the job.

"As we emerge from the worst recession in generations, there is nothing more important than to do everything we can to get our economy moving again and put Americans back to work, and I will go anywhere to pursue that goal," Mr. Obama said in his weekly radio address to the nation.

The president's remarks follow his four-nation tour of Japan, Singapore, China and South Korea, a trip he said was prompted largely by economic interests. Now back in the U.S., he promised to continue to focus on ways to combat U.S. unemployment.

Mr. Obama warned the U.S. shouldn't return to relying on growth fueled by consumer borrowing, urging the nation to spend less, save more and get the record federal deficit under control. He also called for a greater emphasis on exports, saying a 5% increase in U.S. exports to Asia would result in hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs.
I think its about time that someone looked out for American economic interest. For the past 8 years the only people who were looked out for was the richest 5% of the population.

Hell, what Obama said my 6 year old could understand, increase exports = more jobs. Other than the obvious, do you want to list any facts in your thread? What Bush policies are being reversed? What Policies were destructive and limited jobs?

If you have not noticed with the low tolerance and non enforcement of illegal immigration into the US, they are setting us up to compete with China and India on low cost exports to be a global economy.

You guys and gals have not seen anything yet. Look who these people he placed in important places, believe in. Mao, of China fame.

You people with ignorance of history, better wake the hell up!

It is known that Bush disdained the lower and middle classes and did everything he could to try and destroy them.

It is known, or believed? Bush gave the middle class higher tax cuts than the rich, and increased support for the lower classes 400% as much as Clinton.

Now that you got your lies, I mean mis-information out of the way, do you want to answer the questions we posed, what policies of Bushs' resulted in outsourcing of jobs?

Bush might have given them tax cuts, but his economic policies destroyed their jobs. So when you have no income tax cuts aren't that great. Remember this recession is Bush's fault.

If you would stop a moment and put your Bush hatred on the shelf you'd see that this started before Bush. Try the Clinton administration, Bush administration and Obama administration.

Take a look at Cisco back in 1996 for outsourcing tech.
Take a look at failed bills in 2004 that would have restricted outsourcing.
Take a look at the "Indian Caucus" and Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi's involvement.
Take a look at Obama's stimulus bill and how jobs can be outsourced by "waivers".
