COLUMBIA, South Carolina — A federal judge ruled Tuesday that South Carolina can't issue license plates showing the image of a cross in front of a stained glass window along with the phrase "I Believe."
U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie said in her ruling that the license plates was unconstitutional because it violates a constitutional ban on establishment of religion.

No. I am against this. If you want to show your faith, you should be able too. Sure, when I see it, I will think you are obsessed with your religion but is it YOUR car and YOUR faith. YOUR PROPERTY!
Just like no one can tell me that I am not allowed to have "I love Darwin" on my car.
Does any intelligent being truly think that a license plate with these things on them is the government establishment of a religion? Good God. Then I guess the crosses on national cemeteries are next?
The state is not mandated to make religious icons.
You want a religious icon on your car, buy it and use it.
There is a separation of church/state in this country.
If you make it for one, you must make them for all religions.
I'd like to see a religious sign for Muslims.
Yes, it is absolutely wrong for the state to support any religion.

I don't understand. I thought the cross represented something holy. Why would something sacred be put on the exterior of a car where it can be wrecked, defaced, covered with dirt or banged up?

I totally agree with you. These whackos actually wanted a custom plate made and issued by the state? Did I read that correctly? They can keep their little plastic Jesus on the dashboard and it's none of anyone's business, but these nutjobs need to push the envelope and implicate the state? How insecure about their so called "faith are they, that unless they are advertising it, they are not content. What a bunch of losers.

It is coming, wait and see.
The nutjobs will not want to see any crosses even in cemeteries.
Gosh, if this bothers people then they need to stay at home and take more pills.
I do not think public roads should be named after certain people but I don't go whining about it. I just ignore it and go on.
