In America today, we are being asked to be open-minded about a religion that wants to destroy the very freedoms that allow us to be "open-minded." What about Islam do we not understand? Women are subjegated, girls actually sold, killed, destroyed by men thinking they are doing their god's will. Freedom is denied to all but a few. America, tell me you really want that! The very terms of Islamic behavior is to overthrow all religions for their own. The mostly Christian nation of America has always stood for the freedom of people to worship. We have invited every religion to our shores to worship freely, but the Muslim faith doesn't want to allow for free worship. Why are we so blind to that very issue America? WHY?

Yeah, but the mostly Christian United States has also stood for slavery, segregation, depriving women of the rights to vote, own property, or obtain a divorce, or the right to decide what to do with their own bodies.

Christianity isn't some great idol here.

What you said at the beginning is mostly correct, but saying that Christians don't have tarnish on their record is just wrong.

There is a very good reason why our government isn't supposed to respect any one established religion, or prohibiting the exercise of anyones religious beliefs.

Muslims are a very large part of the United States population, and the worlds. The large majority of them don't want to hurt or kill anyone.

Psychos have been using religion as an excuse to bloody their hands for thousands of years, Islam is just one of the newer kids to the race.

You can point out all the negative things that have happened in the past to justify your arguments, and some will believe you. But I have to ask you this:

How many Christians who converted to another religion were in turn killed by Christians because of this fact?

This is why separation of church and state is essential! Every religion uses oppression and confinement of thought as its cornerstone. The only state interference should be to enforce civil laws.

Christians who attempt to limit the liberties of other religious sects through government, will set precedence for having the government limit their right to practice their own religious beliefs.

Ever hear of the Crusades? Ever hear of the protestant reformation?

How many Calvanists and Protestants were killed by the Catholic church for abandoning their religion.

You really don't know your history do you.

Here we go with the Apologists: Yeah, but Christianity blah, blah, blah . . .

We're not discussing Christianity, we're discussing Islam, so try and stay focused here, kiddies.

Deflection is the only thing the progressives have to offer, isn't it?

Bingo. As Jesus himself said, "Why do you notice the speck in your brother's eye but ignore the beam in your own?"

It's not Islam that's bad. Or Christianity, or any other religious or political system. It's the people who use those belief systems and twist them for their own violent intentions.

It's called intellectual honesty, and it has nothing to do with Left vs. Right.

Making a blanket condemnation of Islam is just as bigoted as tarring all Christians because of the Crusades, the witch hunts, and the Spanish Inquisition.
