July 29, 2009 -- Updated 0220 GMT (1020 HKT)Military planning for possible H1N1 outbreak - CNN.com

From Barbara Starr
CNN Pentagon Correspondent

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. military wants to establish regional teams of military personnel to assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.
The proposal is awaiting final approval from Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
The officials would not be identified because the proposal from U.S. Northern Command's Gen. Victor Renuart has not been approved by the secretary.
The plan calls for military task forces to work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no final decision on how the military effort would be manned, but one source said it would likely include personnel from all branches of the military.

Just what will the military be doing conifisating guns........

It says what they will be doing in the article.

Quote:
The military, as they would for a natural disaster or other significant emergency situation, could provide support and fulfill any tasks that civilian authorities could not, such as air transport or testing of large numbers of viral samples from infected patients.

After Katrina the government is not taking chances. If you hear the government is loading up on pine coffins, I would be a little concerned.

It's less lethal, but if in the Fall there is a large outbreak, help may be needed to keep things moving if everyone is out sick.

Have you asked troops what they think? Maybe they'd rather be doing duty assisting at home with an epidemic than going off to desolate places on the other side of the globe to be shot at.

They just gave us local government employees FEMA training for the Incident Command System, an almost carbon copy of military organization. My certificate of completion says:

"FEMA- This certificate is to acknowldege that (Chango) has reaffirmed a dedication to serve in times of crisis through continued professional develompent and completion of this course"

I am an office grunt, and don't recall ever signing up with FEMA, but I guess now they can yank me out of my cubicle and throw me into their organization whenever and wherever they please, so long as the President declares a "state of emergency".

Everything is NOT OK... the government is quietly, but actively planning for a very large breakdown in the near future in nearly all levels of the government. Of course the military will be deployed on US soil. Things are going to get very scary.
