No doubt the shot came from ghettoites or rednecks. Why can't these folks find a party to go to or something instead of killing people every year? And in church at that! Every year we read about the same crap. People should have to take an IQ test to own firearms. Ghettoites and rednecks are like children and they should not be allowed to have dangerous items!

Very sad. What goes up will come down and the law of gravity superceeds gun laws.
OP has no way of knowing who fired the shot or from where so name calling and assuming it came from one group or another is unproductive. OP has no way of knowing that the shot came from a legally owned weapon so don't paint all gun owners as irresponsible or of low IQ.
What goes up will come down and it could come down well more than 1/4 mile away from the shot depending upon the caliber. The hole in the church ceiling would lead this poster to believe it was a rifle caliber and not from a handgun.
Safety first. Have a safe backstop and know what is beyond. Never fire a gun straight up into the air (which is likely what happened here).

I agree with the OP. This is a very sad thing and it is even more sad how the police allow this type of lawlessness to occur in certain areas yet they will devote ample time to trying to cite speeding tickets on upstanding citizens elsewhere.

I lived in Atlanta for five years and it was my impression that the local law enforcement was a bit inept. They shot and killed a 90 something Grandma in a supposed drug raid, there was the "Brian Nichols" episode where a man on trial took a court officer's gun and escaped after killing the judge, court reporter, lawyers, and a police officer, and I don't know how many times somebody either escaped or just walked out of the Fulton County Jail. They're worse than the Keystone cops.

Whats a 'ghettoite'? Is this a new word? If you mean 'black person' and by redneck you mean 'white person', yea it probably was. Blacks and whites make up 90% of the population of atlanta.
About the police ordering shoot to kill almost ALWAYS ends up with wounded/killed officers and civilians. There is a reason why things are done the way they are. Also, Mayors in reality have no control over police agencies. They can order arrests and ask for searches or increased scrutiny, but cannot give orders.
