The bomber, Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, was a 36-year old doctor from Zarqa, Jordan, the home town of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the late head of al-Qaeda in Iraq, accordign to a report on NBC News.
Balawi was arrested over a year ago by Jordanian intelligence for suspected terror activities, but was thought to have been turned to support US and Jordanian efforts against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He detonated a suicide bomb that killed the seven CIA employees - four officers and three contracted security guards - and a Jordanian intelligence officer, Ali bin Zaid, who was a member of the country's royal family.
You know, we were treated daily to every violent act and every bombing when Bush was president - but not now.
Members of the CIA killed - and very little if any TV/radio coverage. Seems like it should be a big deal.
The thing is, the CIA tends to be very secretive and closed-ranks. It's not like the news agencies can summon up a bunch of interviews with the survivors, or get anything more than general statements from the agency itself. And that's probably how agents prefer things to be.

And can you blame them?
Look what Cheney/Rove did to Valerie Plame.
It was all over the TV last weekend. As the CIA is a secret agency I am suprised we heard about this assination at all.
Why would anyone be surprised that the CIA recruited some double agents? The agency works very hard to place doubles in other intelligence services so they should expect some in their own. I'll bet Ali bin Zaid was the target of an assination and the rest were collateral damages.
When someone sits down to talk revolution or terror with four other people these days the meeting is composed of four intelligence agents and a fool. Always has been and always will be this way.

Um, Valerie Plame? Cheney/Rove?
I think a more relevant comparison would be a lack of trust in the Obama Administration after it favored political expediency over the intelligence mission by releasing the waterboarding memo's.

I don't watch TV news, but this was on NPR this morning. Perhaps you should take a breath.
