(MYFOX NATIONAL) – An Australian man has admitted to having pornographic images of cartoon characters, including those from The Simpsons and The Powerpuffs Girls, and now must register as a sex offender, reported The Queensland Times .

28-year-old Kurt James Milner of North South Wales, Australia, will have to report to police after pleading guilty to possessing the images.

In January 2008 police went to Milner's house after receiving a tip about disturbing material. Milner did not allow the police to search his computer at first, but later handed over the machine. Police forensic experts recovered 64 images of cartoon child exploitation material in the machine's recycle bin.

Milner told police he downloaded the images to show them to his friend "because he believed they were funny," according to the newspaper report. The images depicted figures from The Simpsons, The Powerpuff Girls and The Incredibles in sexually explicit positions.

Ars technicia reported that the Australian Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that sexually explicit illustrations of children qualify as child pornography.

Milner received a suspended sentence and had to post a bond. In 2003 Milner was convicted possessing child exploitation material of actual children.

In 2008 another child pornography case also featuring characters from The Simpsons, an Australian judge ruled that though the cartoons may not be realistic depictions of children, they should still be considered people and therefore could be ruled as child pornography .

Though not consdered pornography, cartoon mother Marge Simpson recently graced the cover of Playboy magazine.

Since they list the Simpsons, and the Powerpuff Girls.

Police forensic experts recovered 64 images of cartoon child exploitation material in the machine's recycle bin

then it would be illegal child pornography in america as well and you will be punished. The Supreme Court has already upheld such laws..

no.. Child porn is defined as

Child pornography is the visual representation of minors under the age of 18 engaged in sexual activity or the visual representation of minors engaging in lewd or erotic behavior designed to arouse the viewer's sexual interest.

Since that cartoon was not designed to arouse the viewers sexual interest nor is he engaged in sexual activity, it most likely would be considered child porn..
