Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair said in each case a decision to use lethal force against a U.S. citizen must get special permission.
"We take direct actions against terrorists in the intelligence community," he said. "If we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that."
Just curious, why is this a "left" issue? Reading the article, this has been policy, but NEVER spoken about in public until an American Citizen was actually killed. So why is this a "left" question and not a American Citizen question?
Not sure. If they're overseas I don't see why they're not extradicted and brought in for questioning. The problem may be detaining them is too dangerous, in which case I'm generally for assasination. I take it on a case by case basis. How does the right feel about this?
I think this sort of thing has been going on for a very long time and Peter Hoekstra, a MI Republican and ranking member of the House intelligence committee, should have known better than to bring this up in an open-to-the-public discussion. What the heck is wrong with that guy? First he lets sensitive stuff slip out at Christmas time about us reading emails going to Al Queda members, now this. He obviously can't keep his mouth shout and should be removed from the intelligence committee.
