*****America Becoming A Third World Country***** | Market Skeptics (http://www.marketskeptics.com/2011/05/america-becoming-a-third-world-country.html - broken link)

Police in outlying suburabs just taking reports now not much in arresting.

Teachers being layed off, Classes have 60 students

As you read the articles down the page it looks like the gangs are taking over as things get worse.

All the more reason for law abiding citizens to arm themselves. Can't keep relying on the government to protect you. Especially since it is not the police's duty to protect you from crime

Makes sense, Detroit has lost well over half it's population in the last decade.

So lemme get this straight, because one city at this point in time is on the skids that means America is becoming a third world country?

Detroit is not indicative of America...

Detroit is indicative of liberal socialism gone wild, it's people electing and re-electing corrupt politicians.

It's citizens have been and still are lazy, dependent on state and the federal government for handouts.

Detroit is the left's utopia....

You might not like the guy doing the video but the facts he presents are unassailable.....

The U.S. cares more about foreign wars dealing with other peoples' safety than our own education and safety back here at home. Not sure on police officers, but teachers are being let go all over the country in huge numbers. We need to get our priorities straight ASAP otherwise this country is going to be a big steaming pile in a few generations.

You realize Detroit spends around $11,200 per student per year and the national average is around $9,700, right?

Why shouldn't Detroit lay off teachers? Their population is down 25% in the past decade....

It's not our involvement in foreign wars that has brought Detroit to this point, it's the liberal socialists.

In the long ago past, Detroit grew large because of it's location and manufacturing.

Without manufacturing, Detroit has lost it's reason to exist as a large city. Without manufacturing, it's just like any other small or medium city along Lake Huron.

Oh please, break down those costs. See exactly how much goes to "administrative" details. Cut down on the administrative side, not the teachers. Way too many bosses of bosses. That's the best explanation of why you see such high numbers per student spending. So the population is down, why make classes larger? That doesn't make much sense.

F'ed up priorities and folks just wanting to place blame rather than take charge will lead to nothing.

I only know about the cost per year per student in Detroit, but since you are so authoritative on this subject could you please post the breakdown statistics to back up your wild assertions?

thanx
