"This land is your land" is a marxist depression era ditty that has no place as a representation of a nation.

The Constitution is hard to remember as well. Should we get rid of it and replace it with something easier to remember? How about the Ten Commandments? That would be shorter, and easier to remember.

Why so defensive? You are responding as if someone suggested replacing the song with something anti American. You are you a descendant of Francis Scott Key?

Can't do "This Land Is Your Land." What happens when we sell California to the Chinese? Then, we'll have a song with California in it but we won't have California.

Could you imagine singing that hippie dippy song at a solemn event?

I have no problem being called a "Lib". I am one and proud of it. But it has no place in the conversation I was attempting to have but is yet another example of someone from the right wing making EVERTHING partisan. Get over it. Everything isn't partisan.

You didn't make it partisan so why would you feel that way?

I do not necessarily love The Star-Spangled Banner, but This Land is Your Land sucks and would not be a good national anthem. An instrumental would be best if you want to satisfy everyone..

How about the Imperial March? Bad ass enough:

[Kidding of course]

America the Beautiful or My Country 'Tis of Thee are good songs, the latter being the de facto anthem since our country was founded. Maybe someone can come up with a completely new sound to be our national anthem.

Why? Why do you want to change a symbol of our national identity?

The national anthem should include something about owning guns, praying to god, and capitalism.

I agree, we start with that, then before you know or even realize it. everything else will change also. Who does not like this, who doesn't like that, well this is how it is, so get use to it, or put ear plugs in your ears.
