OK? Maybe get the dog whisperer to make a housecall? I don't know....this is a non-issue.
I'll tell you what the moderator told me a few days ago when I received my first warning... 'if you don't like it, don't comment'. Easy as pie.

If any other kid smacked my kid, I would kill him myself. No need for the dog to interefere.

....pretty much says it all about the mental health of pitbull owners.

I see you didn't disagree with the rest of my post (which is true).

OK, I'll change it to pitbull advocates....of which, you are one.

I didn't disagree, but does that automatically make me agree with you? I think not. I just choose not to acknowledge irrelevant remarks. I also wouldn't limit my advocacy specifically to pit bulls. I'm an advocate of animals, including dogs (which would inhere to pitbulls) and think that any dog, large or small, trained improperly isn't the animals fault. It's the owners. The owner needs to be held liable - not the animal.

Your willingness to kill a child negates anything you could ever post.

I have a Great Dane, and I have a resuced pit bull. In the three years I've had her not only has there been not even one incident of aggression, but there hasn't even been any indication she would ever be aggressive. I have more problems with pugs, and chihuahuas being aggressive to her at the dog park!! It ticked me off because if she were to defend herself against these little yappers she would end up being the bad dog simply due to her breed. Me being the way I am, I just tell the little dog owners to either get control of their dogs, because my dog will get the blame or I remind them of them there is a small dog side of the park. I'll defend my pit against them even if I go to fist city.

There are multiple pit bulls within two blocks of me. The owners take excellent care of their dogs and the dogs are not mean or aggressive. Would I enter the yard without the owner being out there? No. But I wouldn't enter any yard with a dog that may view me as a danger to their territory.

Do your research. Ususally their is little or no warning before they attack and often they attack a family member. They make no distiction between children, adults and elederly. But it isn't an issue of whether or not they attack. All dogs are capable of that. All dogs are capable of attcking a family member, a child or an elderly person. The issue is the nature of the attack and the damage done.

There does seem to be more Pitbull attacks in the media as opposed to to other breeds. Pitbulls were not bred to be lap dogs. I don't think that they come under the heading of hunting dogs as a Lab or Retriever, both of which have a reputation as being gentle.

The immediate ancestors of the APBT were Irish and English pit fighting dogs imported to the States in the mid-19th century.
Pitbull Dog History | APBT History

The scary thing about the breed is that damn locking of the jaw. It is not just a bite that one has to fear, it's the fact that the bite is relentless. What chance does the victim have in such an instance? Unfortunatley, we are all aware that breeders are not always reputable. Inbreeding, poor breeding, bad training or treatment added to the Pitbulls instinctive attack trait is the recipe for possible tragedy.

It does appear that many Pitbull owners seek out this particular breed for ego related reasons. My neighbor has one and he (the guy) is very short and slender and I get the feeling that this dog makes him feel more macho. I avoid the dog even though I've been assured that he is friendly. Better safe than sorry with a missing body part. People are also very stupid when you hear that they have left a baby within reach of any dog, especially Pitbulls. As long as there are irresponsible or stupid people that purchase these dogs and people that are not careful with their kids when these dogs are in close proximity, it is not a far fetched idea to outlaw them. Why are people so up arms with this idea? No one is advocating for the drowning of puppies or putting down the ones that already exist in households, but just no more new breeding. I am an animal lover, but I don't see the sense of fighting to save a breed when there are so many breeds that are much better and safer pets.

The stats at the website are very scary and incriminating. I don't think that anyone can insist that these dogs are no more dangerous than other breeds.
