"The U.S. Department of Interior announced yesterday that it is increasing water allocations for the Central Valley of California, a region that depends on these water allocations to support local agriculture and jobs. The region has recently been starved for water and as a result unemployment has soared. Not surprisingly, Cardoza and Costa had a hand in the announcement."

NRCC - National Republican Congressional Committee (http://nrcc.org/blog/blogitem.aspx?id=261 - broken link)

Did the President buy these two Representatives?

Cardoza and Costa have been two undecideds on Obamacare. Coincidence? I don't think so.

If you are a Democrat, why sign any bill the White House wants? Flirt then just sit back in your comfy chair and wait for the White House to come along with a bag of goodies for you or your state. The Dems who agreed to Obamacare right off the bat must be kicking themselves for not playing "undecided." You "yea" voters in Congress should be using this time to make your list so when Illegal Immigration and Cap and Trade comes around, you can get something out of it instead of just giving it away...think prostitute. Doing it for love has gotten you nothing.

"Did the President buy these two Representatives?"

Of course he did. Along with Kucinich, and others as yet unknown. They're only a few votes away now; it WILL pass. I don't ever underestimate the power and political trickery of Obama and Pelosi. There's no way they can allow this to fail. At this point, I believe they're really turning up the pressure to get enough solid yes votes to avoid having to go with 'deem and pass'. If they can get it through with a straight up and down, they will tout victory without having to use special procedural gyrations.

The only real sticky point now is the CBO report. However, that too will show what they need it to show...garbage in, garbage out. It's a done deal from what I see. The only question now is will they post it a full 72 hours before the vote? Clock's ticking, and Obama is set to leave on Sunday.

Exactly. This is not a good example of some backroom, shady deal. It's a case of one hand washes the other, maybe, but that's nothing new for either party.

Besides, it's a good idea to increase the water to that area right now, considering that the majority of the jobs depend upon it.

The backroom deals of Dick Cheney and Big Oil most likely did not get a thread devoted to it by any right leaning poster on these boards...you can bet on it. Speaking water deals, btw...

The EPA turned off the water in San Joaquin Valley to protect the Delta smelt. 0bama was just fine with destroying those hundreds of farms, and the livelihood for all those people, but now he turns the water on to buy some votes to pass legislation?

Are the environmentalists going to give 0bama a pass on this too? I won't hold my breath. If turning off the water was the right thing to do, what is turning it back on?

Regardless of why the water is being turned on, it is sad that we live in a country where our government can destroy peoples lives over a stupid minnow.

While I'm no fan of Obama, please realize that California's Central Valley produces more than half the food consumed in the US. Though we've had some good rain this winter on the coast, the state has been in a drought for over 4 years. Considering over 175 MILLION Americans rely on the Central Valley for food, keeping it watered is a really good idea.

The Bush Administration's Environmental Record: Klamath Basin Fish Kill

This has NO effect on your life at all and is off topic.

Do you have anything to offer about this other then going back to Cheney day in and day out.

And to think Nancy PROMISED us that she would go after big oil and take them down. That was 3 1/2 years ago. What is she waiting on?

You know this is unconstitutional and is wrong yet you sit back and allow it to happen.

If Bush had used these tactics to get something passes you would be rioting in the streets.

That water will come at the cost of LA. When they start rationing water to LA residents due to over population and ever increasing illegal immigration, watch out. Then the agricultural industry will have the water turned off again.
Go ahead, throw your vote away.
