So really what is it? Or is it just a term used to scare people? It isn't government run healthcare, just regulations. There is no public option even, so how is it Obamacare?

I wonder if it is possible to have a civilized conversation. Lets make a pact, both sides to at least try. If someone chimes in with something stupid or nasty, lets all agree to just IGNORE them and move on.

I want to hear from both sides in a way where we can actually learn something. No name calling. It isn't communism or socialism just because you don't agree. And this new bill isn't the end all and be all either. It isn't going to all of a sudden make everything perfect.

What are the pros and what are the cons in your opinion?

It's a just a huge power grab by the government to control via regulation and mandates 1/6th of our economy and redistribute the wealth and increase government spending. It's not about health care at all and never was.

Obamacare to me is a snake-oil salespeople way to push through BS while getting $$$ from outside sources, making backdoor deals, no transparency to the American people who voted them in, screwing senior citizens, worsening the unemployment, consumer to pay more for things as companies pass the extra costs, mandated purchase or fine which is against the constitution, DIVIDING THE COUNTRY, etc, etc, etc......

Default What exactly is Obamacare?

Simply put, a hugh mistake that we will all have to pay for until someone has the guts to repeal it.

The 2010 elections to vote in a Republican majority in which they'll probably cut funding to this.

Then 2012 vote in a president that will repeal it.

I've never been overly religious, but I pray that this will happen. It's our only hope.

Here is a good, easy to read, overview of what the bill does.

I honestly don't understand why people would not want coverage if they have pre existing conditions, coverage for dependent children under 26, subsidies for people to help purchase insurance, etc.

I don't think goes far enough to protect us from the insurance companies' rampant price increases. In my state alone, they've just tried to raise rates 30 % or more (before the bill) and would continue on this course as long as they can get away with it.

Please READ the provisions of this bill BEFORE commenting. There is SO MUCH disinformation out there already.
