Oh my, my, my. Looks like the dirt deals, the secret meetings behind closed doors, the pushing through of an unpopular HC care bill against the will of the people and on a party line vote has had an impact. Didn't the democrats claim the people would LOVE it?
Gallup last measured party images in late August/early September of last year. At that point, the Democratic Party enjoyed an 11-point favorable image advantage over the Republican Party. Now, the favorable ratings of the two parties are essentially tied.

Given the usual Democratic advantages in party identification among the general public, it is rare for Republicans to lead on the generic ballot among registered voters. This was the case even when Republicans were the majority congressional party from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s.
