The most conservative friend I have drives a prius, to save gas, as he commutes into NH everyday from VT.

To me a Prius isn't worth the difference in savings between it and any other high mileage car, say a Kia Rio @ 34mpg and the Prius at 50 mpg.

The base price of the Kia is about $14k and the Prius about $22k. $8,000 will buy a whole lot of gas even at $5 a gallon for a long time, even with a long commute.

For the Hummer? If there's 8" of snow out there and you absolutely have to get there the Hummer is the way to go. You'll be walking with just about anything else.

I am a conservative and wouldn't drive a Hummer even if I could afford one. They just use too much gas. I heard it is like 4 miles to the gallon or something like that. I would rather not go to the gas station every few days.

I think a better question would have been

1. Prius
2. Raised Truck

I can't stand people who drive raised trucks. They are terrible drivers who want to prove their big redneck vehicle can actually compete with fast cars on the freeway so they drive like hell and cut people off. And if you look at the drivers, 99% of them fit this description

1. Some type of facial hair
2. Lots of strange bumper stickers on their back window including Third Reich paraphanelia
3. Tattoos on their arms
4. Oakley sunglasses
5. Tank Top

Title of thread and title of poll are quite different. I'm not certain how any object should bring about political hatred to people who are able to think rationally. Frankly I don't care for either vehicle. Can't afford the gas for a Hummer and it rides rough but the Prius won't take me places I need to get and is too small to carry what/whom I need.

They are not that bad. More like 8-12 MPG.

What are the first thoughts you have when you see:

1. A Hummer
2. A Prius
I am pretty liberal but I hate them both. They are both really ugly and slow. If I had to drive one I guess it would be the Prius since it is small and gets good gas mileage.
