Question: When you think of Ron Paul, on what issue, in your opinion, is his biggest stance? That is, when you hear his name, what is the first and strongest issue you attach to him?

Whatever that answer is, I'm thinking that's the anti-issue for Obama. People are saying this is what we primarily reject about you, Mr President.
1) It will never happen.

2) The last poll I saw had Paul dead last when paired up to other republicans. In yet another he was only last after Palin.

In real life there is no conservative that is capable of beating Obama. They weren't in 08 and they won't in 12. Just won't happen. Until the GOP can rid themselves of the nutjobs, they don't stand a chance. Furthermore the tea party types pose a much bigger threat to the GOP then they ever would to the Dems.

Republicans don't elect Presidents.
Democrats don't elect Presidents.
The Independent votes elect Presidents.

But we all know it is not who votes that wins elections. It is is who counts the votes that decides elections.

The powers-that-be will not allow anything real to change.

We will be offered Obama (the worst thing the Democrats have come up with) and the absolute worst, intellectually challenged, most unelectable Republican they can find, possibly Sarah Palin. The vote will be split almost perfectly 50-50. It will be a huge media event and everyone will be interested because we won't know who wins until the last second. And no matter who wins, the result will be exactly the same: bigger government, more spending, more borrowing, more pork. We will continue to push the accelerator to the floor as we drive off the cliff.

Think about it: in a country with at least 300 million people, how can ANY question/issue be so evenly split that you end up with an almost-exact 50/50 split? Ever think it was inconsistent that Republicans, the party that's supposed to want to keep government out of the average citizen's life, have adopted a government-intervention view on abortion (that most personal of decisions is between a woman, her doctor and government Legislators)? And if you want to minimize the size of Government, both parties say NO (Republicans because they want a huge military, Democrats because they want huge welfare programs).

I'm a fiscal conservative and a social liberal; I despise military spending and only support welfare programs in very limited circumstances (and having children should not qualify you for aid). I believe in preserving nature and the environment, but through reducing human overpopulation rather than lowering human quality of life.

So far the Libertarian Party seems the only hope for this country, but I'm cynical enough to believe the media will continue to slander and marginalize Libertarians so that they will never have the chance to stop the governmental parasite from killing the economic host.
great post...i hate the hopeless feeling i'm overwhelmed with, i'm searching for who to blame that got us in this situation...the media?? although, i'de love to put blame on them, i believe in reality, the root of the problem is uneducated Americans, that drool over the propoganda and want to vote with the "in" crowd...

I like Obama fine, but I'm one of those loons that would love to see a Paul vs Kucinich election. Two smart, honest, funny-looking guys battling it out. Unfortunately, our society is far too image-driven and corporate for that to take place...
Ron won't work out for those who want to blame Obama or the usual talking points for many of the conservatives (like more weapons, more nation building).

I'd love to see a Ron Paul/Bernie Sanders ticket.
A couple of old guys who say "We Can Do Better Then This".

Too bad they don't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating the left/right mentality of america
