ASHEVILLE, N.C. – An Ohio man has been charged after authorities spotted him with a gun in a North Carolina airport parking lot as Air Force One was departing Sunday afternoon.

Joseph McVey, 23, is charged with going armed in terror of the public, a misdemeanor, said Asheville Regional Airport Police Capt. Kevan Smith. Airport police saw McVey get out of a car about 2 p.m. in the rental car return lot and he had a gun, Smith said. He was taken into custody immediately and was being held at the Buncombe County jail.

Looks like the Secret Service deferred to local police. Must have been a non-issue.

Don't know the details of how he "exposed" his firearm. Does he have a CCW and was just transitioning his gun from his holster to the glovebox or better yet the trunk? Was he just too stupid to do it discreetly?

I thought the same thing. Somone was probably trying to stir up dust since the President was in town. Considering this was Asheville, NC...a liberal bastion...i'm not surprised.

Probably just coincidental that Obama was departing from there but the news is still going to report it.
