'Potty Parity Act' seeks restroom equality in federal buildings - washingtonpost.com

Interesting topic. I wasn't aware that there was a disparity in the number of toilets/urinals physically present - truthfully I never thought about it. I just figured the long lines were b/c women take longer to do the deed and threw in some dawdling and gabbing for good measure. From the brief glimpses I've seen when waiting for my wife, I always thought that the restrooms for women seemed so much more luxurious - you know there's always that lounge area with a sofa. I guess they may have to give up the lounge area for more toilets. Also I suppose I'm mostly talking about restrooms in general - I can't really speak with any certainty specifically on federal building restrooms for women though.

Quote:
Advocates have pushed for restroom parity across the country, mostly for better access in public buildings and in the construction of sports arenas. The New York and Honolulu city councils passed laws in 2005 requiring that bars, sports arenas and other public facilities have twice as many toilets for women as for men.
Although here they're even talking about putting in double the # of toilets. That sounds pretty expensive. Maybe women will have to start paying more for admission to certain places to pay for it? or maybe just everyone will.
