Welcome to "Liberty, unleashed", a brief set of buzz words, axioms, catch phrases or sound bites. If you can understand them and apply them, you, too, will become a "Heifer Dung" inspector, capable of grading it.
All law is the protection of property rights, all else is policy and policy requires consent.
(or as the Declaration of Independence puts it)
Government's Job #1 = secure rights, Job #2 = govern those who consent.
Rights endowed by your Creator are protected by government, privileges granted by government are not.

Liberty has four types: natural, personal, civil and political.
The former two are endowments, the latter two are government granted.

If confused about the true nature of a "right" or liberty ask yourself if it will exist whether or not the government exists.
  1. If the right exists, regardless, it is one of the inalienable rights.
  2. If the right does not exist without government, then it is not an endowment of the Creator.

Ex: the "Right" to vote.
Government granted. If there's no government, there's nothing to vote about.

All privileges and immunities granted by government come with concomitant duties and obligations, whether explicitly stated or not. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

A question of ownership

Do you absolutely own yourself, your labor and the fruits of that labor?
Or are you and yours owned by another?

If you absolutely own, then you (your person / chattel) are PRIVATE PROPERTY.
If you and yours are owned by another, you are a slave.

Why are Americans afraid of socialism?
From the Communist manifesto:
"In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property."
COMMUNISM - the ownership of property, or means of production, distribution and supply, by the whole of a classless society, with wealth shared on the principle of 'to each according to his need', each yielding fully 'according to his ability'.
- - - Webster's Dictionary.

SOCIALISM - A political and economic theory advocating collective ownership of the means of production and control of distribution. It is based upon the belief that all, while contributing to the good of the community, are equally entitled to the care and protection which the community can provide.
--- Webster's dictionary
Socialism and communism = COLLECTIVE ownership.

What's wrong with collective ownership?

It abolishes INDIVIDUAL and absolute ownership - also known as PRIVATE PROPERTY.
PRIVATE PROPERTY – As protected from being taken for public uses, is such property as belongs absolutely to an individual, and of which he has the exclusive right of disposition. Property of a specific, fixed and tangible nature, capable of being in possession and transmitted to another, such as houses, lands, and chattels.”
– - – Black’s Law dictionary, sixth ed., p.1217

OWNERSHIP – … Ownership of property is either absolute or qualified. The ownership of property is absolute when a single person has the absolute dominion over it… The ownership is qualified when it is shared with one or more persons, when the time of enjoyment is deferred or limited, or when the use is restricted. ”
– - -Black’s Law dictionary, sixth ed., p. 1106
Why are you so stupid as to tolerate ANYONE who espouses the abolition of your birthright to absolutely own yourself, your labor and the fruits of your labor?
"Share the Wealth", the cry of the anti-American thief and collectivist slaver.
