Well it was in truth $50 to move the bush, the rest went to the displaced homeless guy.

Why? Because they spent a lot of money trying to comply with the Federal Endangered species act? The culprit here is the Federal law. Why not think a little before you cast blame or is that asking too much?

Why so much???? If someone wanted to remove bush...an $11.99 Gillette Fusion razor should suffice!
Besides...8-inch bush removal should be a fairly common event in SF!

Why couldn't they build the road around it? How terrible they displaced that poor bush!

As someone else posted..a garden club would have done it for free and probably would have even taken care of it post relocating it.

No because they come up with ways to waste tax dollars that other people simply can't even imagine. I know they had to move it, they didn't have to spend a 1/10th of that.

This is truly ridiculous. And I live in San Francisco. The finances are in the crapper, budgets are being slashed, people are being laid off, real services are being denied to people who truly do need them...and they're paying $175K to move a shrub less than a mile away?
There really are some stupid people in charge of things here - not afraid to admit it.
Billing this city for "services" must be a great racket. I wonder how I can get in on some of that?
