I would vote YES for trauma tax. I just moved to PSL and haven't register to vote yet.

The ONLY valid argument against the tax is that it is helping to fund a for-profit hospital.

I would like to see an expiration on the tax in X amount of years..... but even then, our tax money goes to prop up so many "private" businesses throughout the country (specifically farm subsidies and defense industries), what's another $50 per year when at least the benefit is more local!!

The only way that a hospital can handle the true emergency is to have on call staff on site 24/7. The staff should include trauma surgeon, cardiovascular surgeon, neurosurgeon and etc... . So far, none of the hospital in Saint Lucie area has the ability to handle the true emergency and trauma. I become aware of this after we moved into PSL area and were shocked by the terrible stories told by neighbors. With so many people in the area without a good insurance, a trauma center may need the support of tax payers. Apparently, it is a common practice throughout south Florida. For me, I would like to see a trauma center nearby. If something happens, I would want my family member to be cared as soon as possible and I wouldn’t have to drive hours to visit. As I stated before, I don’t like to pay more tax. But I would definitely support the trauma center. The existence of a good trauma center would improve the quality of life in Saint Lucie County. As we plan to stay in PSL for a long time, we would like to see it grow not stall.
