So here it what I have noticed after 3 years in St. Lucie county. old Lame.

Where are all the progressive young liberal people at. South beach is a waste land of silicone and expensive cars.

Orlando... Strip malls, strip malls, strip malls... lam

West palm beach. Plaza, strip mall, strip mall, strip mall, city center is just an outdoor mall... Lame.

Daytona, Strip malls, putt putt golf, Lame

Jacksonville, strips malls, malls, strip malls, lame.

Tampa is Cool there you will find some nice places where people live work and play, night life is fun and the city is very progressive.

Where are all the fun cities with hippies and normal people at. Why is Florida strip mall plaza, heaven are there any cities in FL that could compare or have the same vibe as San Francisco or Portland Or?

Why does everyone want Florida to be some place else? I suggest you go to San Francisco or Portland if that's your preference. Leave Florida to those who enjoy it, and we'll promise not to try and change your favorite places. Hell, I'll guarantee it for my part.

FLORIDA is....

....a damn sight better than living in Western Kansas. I moved to the West Palm area in '84 and was surprised at the amount of people in my age group at that time (early 20s) that wanted to go somewhere else.

Miami to the south, Orlando to the north, Disney, Beaches, Dog tracks, Jai Lai.....Day cruise ships that had gambling...Drift fishing boats....Fishing boats to charter....Miami Dolphins and later Marlins and Panthers hockey...Seminole owned casinos....all within a few hours drive. Nassau and the rest of the Bahamas just a short plane or boat ride away. All we had plenty of in my old hometown in Kansas was bars....lots of them. Guess when there's nothing to do, just drink your boredom away.

Seems you had some positive remarks about Tampa, maybe you should pack up the U-haul and head out that way.

Sounds you like you have very little experience in spending time in the places you mentioned. It wasn't until I moved to Palm Beach County that I realized Delray Beach (http://www.downtowndelraybeach.com/monthly-and-annual-calendar - broken link)offers and interesting downtown and nightlife. Same for Lake Worth and some of the other, lesser known, areas in Florida. Plenty of those "progressive" folks there. I've met lots of artists (particularly in South palm beach county- the areas that I've mentioned). I've been here for several years and I still enjoy the events all over the area- there's always something going on daily (the arts, shows, fundraisers, family entertainment) you just have to get involved. BTW, "city center" is actually CITY PLACE in west palm beach. The district right across from City Place is Clematis St.

I also noticed you live in St. Lucie County. I lived there half of my adult life (by way of NYC). Of course I would visit Orlando, Miami, WPB for a few hours a couple of days at a time. Driving through and just visiting places a for a few hours doesn't give you the opportunity to experience what it's like to actually live in those places.

You people are funny. I moved here for a job and trust me you all can have your strip malls and plazas...

City Center is a mall without a roof. That is all it is.
