I cannot remember who warned me about St Lucie Hospital but I have just finished 4 of the worst days I have ever spent in a hospital there and I am angry.
If anyone is interested send me a direct mail and I will elaborate. I just got home today from having my knee replaced and have a lot to share with anyone thinking of using the hospital. Hopefully, someone from hospital management will contact me for more details.

Sid, there is no St Lucie West hospital.

There is St Lucie Medical Center over off US#1, there is Martin Memorial down in Stuart. There is Martin Memorial South down towards Hobe Sound. There is Lawnwood in Ft Pierce.

Which one were you in.

Default St Lucie Medical Center

Medical care is complicated and someone ought to write a book " How to Survive in Hospitals". , heck maybe they did but I did not get a copy.

I selected the surgeon for my knee removal by his reputation and recommendations of others and that was no easy task partially because of my ignorance and because of partially because of a complex system that reminds me of the federal government, no one person has all the answers. I would like to offer advice to anyone that has to go into the hospital- do not go it alone, arrange for someone to be with you in the hospital as much as possible to be your agent advocate that can check that you are receiving the right medicine consistently. The first night a nurse came into my room with some pain meds and some eyedrops. I have an eye disease and take drops every night. For some reason I thought to look at the drops and saw they were not the same. The Nurse's explanation was " it is probably just a generic equivalent and was urging me to take it. I pushed them away. I knew in advance that there was no generic equal. Wanna bet they will be on my bill. More later if anyone wants to hear about it.
