Any one have advice on what our best option would be for decent internet and cable service?

We are only going to be part time residents, but I doubt anyone gives part time service.. lol.. It says in our area AT&T, Bellsouth, MCI, Sprint and Comcast are options..

Comcast has no contract options. Go buy a modem on Amazon and call them up you can have internet setup in 10 minutes. You can go with PlayStation Vue for TV since it has a DVR and works on every station unlike the beta dvr for slingtv. Screw watching TV on the networks schedule.

Thank you both for the options, BOTH of which I am not familiar with and will most certainly be checking into!

We are only there part time, but rely heavily on our iPads so internet access is important to us. We have Comcast and currently pay $15 per month for internet only. We purchased our own modem, and also bought and use an OTA antenna that does provide a few channels--one is ABC--others are PBS and CW. We also have a Roku and access to Netflix that we use in both homes, as well as Amazon Prime access. These provide plenty of access for the three or so months we are there. Our Comcast cost is reduced because we use paperless billing and auto pay. We have never been without internet access with them, so it is very reliable, at least it has been for us. Hope this helps.

Adding to this post , if you have a cable account number from anywhere you live permanently , use internet access and an iPad, smart phone , chromecaster and various devices and ABC,NBC,FOX and many many channels have an free app to use to watch their programming ....look up cord cutting in a Google search for many low cost ideas ...no need to get a full service cable plan when your here seasonally ...internet YES

rent/buy in an HOA that has it included so you don't pay for it when you aren't here

You are paying for it indirectly. Even worse you will be paying for owners that are not paying their dues.

I agree with having Internet and using a ChromeCast/Roku/Smart TV or any other streaming device. Good point regarding if you have a cable or dish provider already in your other home just utilize the same login to pull up programming on your smart phone or computer to stream on your TV. No reason to pay twice.

but if they own in an HOA (which is easier if you are only here part time since your grass etc is still tended to etc and they don't have to wonder) then cable or Internet or both are going to be there no matter what. I stream but you can't get normal tv like you're used to and you are still going to pay for it - its not all free.
