I am so excited! I am shocked, thrilled, etc. We have 3 kids already and we NEVER expected to have more but didn't take steps to make sure it didn't happen. Wife told me today she got a blood test for the meds she is on for hurting her back and they told her she is pregnant...little more than 3 weeks...We just had our 3rd back in April so this is very unexpected...The Chinese calendar says a girl which we already have 2 so I am hoping for another son but will be happy no matter what the baby is. Anyways wanted to share my joy!Wife isn't as happy...she says she is a little happy because she really didn't want more kids right now she wanted to start college but I think once the shock wears off she will be excited.

Congratulations! I hope all goes well, and that your wife will eventually be able to return to college. Perhaps she could attend summer school before the new baby arrives, and get a few credits.

If this non-parent might ask- how can someone be sure they'd never have another child if they don't take steps to prevent it? I've heard this from people of all ages- "We're not trying, but we're not using anything." Is this a form of Russian roulette/whatever happens, happens?

Hm. Well....we were using condoms but ran out....Happened with the 3rd one as well lol...Guess we just need to finally put our foot down and end the chance of having more...I told her maybe its triplets then we would have my older brother beat. He has 5 kids.

Well, surgery is certainly "the lack of desire made flesh!"
Of course, if people are willing to accept an unplanned pregnancy, I can see being less than meticulous about preventing one.
As a non-parent-by-choice, I cannot understand how the wife here might become happy with a situation that she already knows how it affects her and the whole family. But that's me.
Thank you for letting me post here.
