It appears it is all the rage now, several Hollywood stars are doing it. What do you think?
Gaby Hoffmann has a secret ingredient in her smoothies: placenta.
“I made smoothies out of it for three weeks,” the new mom told People.
“I had a home birth, so my midwife and my doula took it and cut it up into 20 pieces and froze it, and every day, I put it in a blender with strawberries and blueberries and guava juice and a banana, and I drank that s–t up,” she continued.
The “Girls” actress, who welcomed first child Rosemary in November with cinematographer boyfriend Chris Dapkins, said eating the placenta boosted her energy levels and milk supply after giving birth.
“Placenta, placenta, placenta. Just eat that s–t up, and it does a girl good,” hailed the actress, 32.
Other stars including January Jones have touted the benefits of eating their own placentas after giving birth.
Why not just bury it under a freshly planted tree, if you need be so extreme. What if followers of Dahmer made it "all the rage" at some point ? If you're following Hollywood, not much hope for you.
This is just plain gross. Don't believe anything from the "stars" in Hollywood.
A little "food for though"t guys..For a really healthy meal just fix some liver, onions and good green veggies washed down with a glass of milk. For some that is gross enough, but at least not in same category as cannibolism..ewwww
It's supposed to help prevent PPD. I considered doing it but lost the opportunity. I'm not sure if I could have gone through with it. In theory it made sense when I was looking into it as an option. In reality, blending up my placenta into a smoothie is not exactly an appetizing thought. I do know a few people who freeze dried their placenta, put it into capsule form and they took them that way with mixed results. That seems like a more palatable option but I question if any potential benefits get lost in the process of freeze drying. Who knows.
I grew up on a farm and animals would do that. Yuck for human consumption though
