LOL, more likely it means they'll ask for and get an extra $1B on their next TV contract, $765M to cover this settlement and another $235M just for their troubles...

if anything, this is nothing more than hush money from the league.. over due if you ask me!
I dont think so-it will still be very popular for a long time (at least in the USA--far more popular than any other sport-I doubt if it will ever be very popular outside the US). Americans are addicted to football for better or worse. Here is a good article about the concussion lawsuit-
A sport where many of the players get permanent, and even life threatening injuries, COULD be in for problems in the somewhat near future.
If kids stop playing the game, it will die and may, eventually, be replaced by - Egads - soccer.
I hope you are correct John-I like football but watch a lot less of it than I used-in part because of the head injuries that some players suffer. But my guess is America is so totally addicted to football that it will remain the most popular sport in the USA for a long, long time to come- I mean people pay regular season prices to watch pre season games (which seem like nothing more than fancy scrimmages) and pay loads of money for just for personal seat licenses so my guess is that football will be king of the USA sports scene for a long time to come.
