I had been using a manual lawn mower for years and had been satisfied with my purchase. However, when I moved to a house with a dramatically larger lawn and rigorous neighborhood lawn maintenance standards, I decided to get a mower with some power. It's important to me that I be environmentally responsible, so gas mowers were out. Also, the price attracted me, as the new house was quite expensive enough. This is less than half the price some gas mowers are.

Which lead me to shopping for electric mowers. On the recommendation of a friend, I purchased this one. And I'm extremely happy I did. First of all, it's extremely light. It's easy to push around and easy to lower the foot distance from the concrete apron of the garage to the beginning of the lawn.

The cutting blades are narrow for a lawn mower (18 inches) which requires several passes to complete the yard, but the mower works so well and so quickly I don't mind the extra workout.

Being electric, the motor is very quiet. If something were to happen to the kids, I could hear them calling for me. It also isn't loud enough to scare our nervous dog, which is amazing in and of itself.

The only annoying part of the mower is that, being an electric motor without a battery, it needs to be plugged in the entire time I"m mowing. Luckily I have very few trees to circle around, which are by far the most annoying part of mowing while tethered to the outlet at the side of the garage. It's something to seriously think about, though, if you are considering this machine.

Overall, though, I am very pleased with this mower. The awful parts of mowing the lawn-buying gas, the extreme noise, the fumes-are completely eliminated. And you are left with a beautiful lawn.
